Your Waterman-Lake SBD invests in projects to improve the neighborhood for all residents and visitors.

Ongoing projects

Landscaping

The SBD maintains the fountain and surrounding garden towards Kingshighway Blvd, the bump-out gardens between Lake Ave and Kingshighway Blvd, and the traffic island garden towards Union Blvd.

Pedestrian lighting

The SBD is nearing the end of a multi-year project to improve pedestrian lighting. All of the black lampposts along the sidewalks are part of this project and are intended to provide improved visibility and security for pedestrians walking at night.

The final phase of this project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025, with the installation of additional lights at the east end of Waterman Blvd.

Traffic calming

Past projects

Traffic calming

The SBD, with the aid of a federal grant, installed several traffic calming features to reduce the traffic speed along Waterman Blvd to make the neighborhood safer for all users. The features include the round about and fountain, the traffic island, the bump outs, and several stone rumble strips.
